Farmaajo’s relationship with Arab countries

According to a report by the New Khalij news source, a famous journalist has disclosed that the former President of Somalia, Mohammed Abdullah Farmajo, has been promised an amount equal to eighty million dollars in exchange for his approval to cut diplomatic relations with the State of Qatar. Jaber Al-Harimi, a journalist, said that Farmajo turned down the good offer after being wooed for two hours.

The sources confirmed that Saudi Arabia had threatened to withdraw financial aid to the Somali government if it did not change its neutral stance, in which it has called for an end to the political dispute between Qatar and the other Arab nations through dialogue via Islamic organizations like the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). “Ministers of the Somali government returned from Saudi Arabia after meetings with their counterparts were unexpectedly postponed,” the sources added. People know that the leaders of the UAE, with the help of Saudi Arabia, have already tried to get Farmajo to change his mind.

Because of the sensitivity of the situation, sources close to Mogadishu and Abu Dhabi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told the New Khalij that the rulers of the United Arab Emirates, particularly Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed of Abu Dhabi, would have preferred Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, the president before Farmaajo, to remain in power. This is especially true when considering the concessions that the UAE was given by Mahmoud, including contracts for unfettered access and Farmajo, which has threatened to renege on a number of agreements, some of which have been called “illegal.”
