Uganda Qualifies For T20 World Cup 2024, Zimbabwe Knocked Out

The 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the 9th edition of the T20 World Cup, is scheduled to be hosted by the West Indies and the United States from 4 June to 30 June 2024.

Uganda Team qualified for the 2024 men’s T20 World Cup after beating Rwanda in the last round of matches in the Africa leg of the qualifiers. Uganda has qualified for the senior World Cup for the first time. However, Zimbabwe have missed out on making it to the World Cup for the second consecutive time. Zimbabwe’s poor run in World Cup qualifiers had failed the team to qualify for the 2019 and 2023 ODI World Cups. Uganda’s victory against Rwanda sealed the fate of Zimbabwe.

Recently, Sikandar Raza, the Zimbabwean international cricketer, made headlines after he scored 82 against Kenya in the Match 19 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2023. 

Uganda qualifies for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024

Uganda beat Rwanda by 9 wickets and qualified for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team secured a top-two finish in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier. The team will make its first-ever appearance in an ICC World Cup event.

Zimbabwe suffered losses at the hands of Namibia and Uganda to miss out on the T20 event. Uganda will play at the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and USA.
