Prime minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed and Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta are set to commission a newly established border road that will improve trade between the two countries.
Abiy is on a two-day visit to neighboring Kenya, his first official excursion since dispatching military tasks against the heads of the nonconformist Tigray district a month ago.
“We need to see Moyale turning into the Dubai of this entire area,” Kenyatta said.
The market town lies generally somewhere between the Kenyan and Ethiopian capitals – which are 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) separated. It has no air terminal and a populace of less than 40,000.
Both parties are set to commission a 500km road that links Nairobi, Kenya and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
