One of the countries to release a travel warning against South Africa due to xenophobic incidents was Ghana.

Owing to its geographical closeness and the high number of Mozambican workers in South Africa, Mozambique paid attention to the unfolding events during times of crisis.

  • Arrangements for emergency transport were made for the citizens affected.
  • Cooperation from government organizations was ensured in helping the Mozambicans go back to their homeland.

Mozambique has always had a good relationship economically and otherwise with South Africa; hence, protecting its citizens is an important issue for them during such times.

This was mostly due to incidents of xenophobic violence against foreigners, as well as the destruction of properties belonging to foreign nationals in some regions of South Africa.
