COVID-19 claims 35 more lives in Egypt

The novel coronavirus claimed 35 more lives in Egypt on Thursday, taking the tally to 1,377, according to the Health Ministry.

The ministry said in a statement that 1,442 new cases were diagnosed, bringing the country’s total to 39,726.

The number of recoveries reached 10,691 with 402 additions over the past day, it added.

After originating in Wuhan, China last December, COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, has spread to 188 countries and regions, with Europe and the US currently the worst hit.

The pandemic has killed more than 418,000 people worldwide, with the total number of infections surpassing 7.4 million, while over 3.5 million people have recovered from the disease, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
