Elon Musk has named Linda Yaccarino, an American media executive, as the new CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of the micro-blogging social networking site Twitter.
She is set to take over from billionaire Elon Musk as Twitter CEO in the coming weeks. She would oversee business operations at Twitter. Musk claimed that she would start her job as the CEO of Twitter in six weeks.
Musk will remain as executive chairman and chief technology officer (CTO) of Twitter. Musk is set to work with Linda to transform Twitter into the Everything app.
On Friday, Musk welcomed Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter. Tech billionaire wrote on Twitter, “I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”
Linda was the chair of advertising sales for NBCUniversal Media, an American multinational mass media and entertainment company. NBCUniversal announced her departure from the media company on Friday evening. Subsequently, Musk announced her as the CEO of the social media company.
Elon Musk bought the social media platform Twitter last year in October for $44bn. Elon Musk fired some Twitter employees. Since then, he has been under pressure to find someone else to take over his role as the CEO of Twitter. Earlier, Musk revealed that he found the new CEO of Twitter without revealing her identity.
Last month, Yaccarino interviewed Musk at a major advertising conference in Miami, a city in Florida. She called Musk “friend” and “buddy” on stage.
Last year in December, Musk asked his followers on the micro-blogging site if he should step down as CEO of Twitter, and 57.5% voted yes. Musk wanted to leave his role as the CEO of Twitter in order to focus on his other companies like SpaceX and Tesla. Elon Musk reportedly works all day to run his 5 companies – Tesla, SpaceX, Twitter, The Boring Company and Neuralink.
