Dubai Cares, a civil society organisation formally associated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications, has launched ‘Gaza In Our Hearts’, a Ramadan fundraising campaign that mobilises the UAE community to raise vital funds for the provision of emergency relief to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The campaign, which runs from February 28 to March 31, 2024, aims to provide meals, food baskets, fire-resistant and waterproof tents, and other humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable groups, especially children and women, who are suffering from the ongoing Israeli aggression and blockade.
Dubai Cares’ Humanitarian Corridor
Dubai Cares, in collaboration with Anera (American Near East Refugee Aid), a leading humanitarian organisation working in the Middle East, has established a humanitarian corridor to deliver the aid to Gaza, in coordination with the UN World Food Programme and other partners. The humanitarian corridor consists of an air bridge and a land route, which enable the urgent delivery of life-saving aid to the besieged enclave.
The air bridge, which was launched on February 29, 2024, involves the dispatch of planes carrying humanitarian supplies from Dubai to El Arish Airport in Egypt, where they are then transported by trucks to the Rafah Border Crossing and into Gaza. So far, four planes have been sent, carrying a total of 47 metric tonnes of medical supplies, food items, and tents.
The land route, which was launched on March 1, 2024, involves the procurement and distribution of humanitarian supplies from local sources in Gaza, as well as from Egypt and Jordan, where they are then transported by trucks to the Kerem Shalom Crossing and into Gaza. So far, 12 trucks have been sent, carrying a total of 120 metric tonnes of food items, hygiene kits, and blankets.

Dubai Cares’ ‘Gaza In Our Hearts’ campaign is part of the UAE’s consistent efforts to support and mitigate the human suffering in the region, which are based on the values of solidarity and cooperation with the Palestinian people. The UAE has been one of the largest donors and supporters of the Palestinian cause, providing humanitarian, developmental, and political assistance to the Palestinians.
The UAE has launched several humanitarian initiatives and operations to help the Palestinians in Gaza, especially during times of crisis and conflict. Some of these include:
- Operation ‘Gallant Knight’, which was launched in October 2023 to provide humanitarian support to the Palestinian people in Gaza, in response to the Israeli military offensive that killed and injured thousands of Palestinians and destroyed and damaged thousands of homes and infrastructure. The operation involved the delivery of food, medical, and relief supplies, as well as the installation of tents, water tanks, and generators.
- Operation ‘Hope for Gaza’, which was launched in July 2023 to provide humanitarian and reconstruction assistance to the Palestinian people in Gaza, in the aftermath of the Israeli military offensive in May 2023 that killed and injured hundreds of Palestinians and destroyed and damaged thousands of homes and infrastructure. The operation involved the delivery of food, medical, and relief supplies, as well as the reconstruction of homes, schools, hospitals, and mosques.
- Operation ‘Gaza Lifeline’, which was launched in July 2022 to provide humanitarian and medical assistance to the Palestinian people in Gaza, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Israeli blockade that exacerbated the health and economic situation in the enclave. The operation involved the delivery of medical equipment, testing kits, ventilators, and personal protective equipment, as well as the establishment of a field hospital.
