John Dramani Mahama born 29 November 1958 is a Ghanaian politician who served as President of Ghana from 24 July 2012 to 7 January 2017. He was previously Vice President of Ghana from January 2009 to July 2012, and assumed the office of President on 24 July 2012 following the death of his predecessor John Evans Fiifi Attah Mills.
John Dramani Mahama’s office has described as false and tendentious reports that described the former president as the fourth richest person in Ghana with a net worth of $900 million.
according to Mr Mahama’s office, the report is nothing but a baseless attempt to whip up discontent against the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for 2024.
“The Office of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama has been made aware of the false publications claiming that the former President is the fourth richest person in Ghana with a fortune of about $900 million.
” We wish to state categorically that these publications are completely false and baseless. Mr Mahama vehemently denies these allegations which he sees as yet another attempt to discredit him, cause discontent and undermine his leadership for dedicated service,” a statement from Mr Mahama’s office dated 26 August 2023 read.
Confirming that the report is false, the former President’s office said the allegations in the said report are a deliberate attempt by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to cause public discontent against the NDC flagbearer.
