Joke Silva, a popular Nigerian actress, director, and businesswoman, has revealed about her journey of accepting her husband’s illness. Her husband, Olu Jacobs, has been suffering from dementia, a group of symptoms affecting memory, thinking and social abilities, since 2021.
Joke Silva MFR broke silence about her marital problems with her husband following his battle with the disease. She claims she still loves her husband despite the illness.
Speaking in a recent interview with media personality and actress, Nancy Isime, the veteran Nollywood actress talked about her husband’s dementia. She said that her husband’s illness affected their marriage. She revealed that sometimes she felt like her husband ‘is no longer there’. The Nollywood actress revealed that she accepted her journey. She said, “We have been married for 37 years, however, we have known each other for 42 years. We dated for 5 years before we got married. So in this journey of dementia now, it is like I am looking after my father. The husband I knew is no more and there for me but this man that is here is someone I still love.”
