In Nigeria, we are taking a two step approach. First, to protect the lives of our fellow Nigerians and residents living here, and second, to preserve the livelihoods of workers and business owners,” President Buhari disclosed on Sunday in a statement.

The Presidential Task Force led by Secretary to the Government of the Federation is seized with coordinating Nigeria’s multi-sectoral inter-governmental approach to COVID19.

Whiles the roll out more measures is underway, measures and directives under implementation include healthcare, border security, and fiscal and monetary policies.

“State Governments are also being encouraged to rollout stimulus packages aimed at helping Nigerians—especially the poor & vulnerable—cope with these challenging times.

To set an example, the President directed the release of 70,000MT of grain from the National Strategic Reserves. “The 70,000MT of grain will be distributed across the country, with a focus on the frontline states of the #COVID19 pandemic.”

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Minister Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed issued a statement on a raft of measures under the title: Ministerial Press Statement on Fiscal Stimulus Measures to the COVID-19 Pandemic and Oil Price Fiscal Shock.
