Senegal 0-1 Algeria: Teranga Lions tame by the Desert Foxes

Algeria defeated Senegal 1-0 in their second match of the Group C in the ongoing AFCON tournament in Egypt, thanks to Youcef Belaili brilliant composure in front of goalkeeper Edouard Osoque Mendy.
Senegal started the game in attacking manner but was unable to break the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes but Algeria was denied a chance after Riyad Mahrez failed to beat an offside trap.
Baghdad Bounedjah fired a strike in the 17th minute but his effort was saved by Edouard Osoque Mendy who pulled off a nice save to deny the desert foxes.
Algeria keep on pressing for the opener but Senegal remained compact in the defence in the opening 45 minutes, the first half ended 0-0.
Sofiane Feghouli played a great part in the opener for Algeria after a sublime assist to Youcef Belaili who beat Senegal shot-stopper Edouard Osoque Mendy with a brilliant shot to make it 1-0 for the Desert Warriors.
Senegal kept pushing for an equaliser as Kalidou Koulibaly met a cross but was unable to put it into the net.
Sadio Mane forced himself in the defence but he was stopped by Algerian defenders in the process. Senegal manager Aliou Cisse made the first substitute of the game as he withdrew Keita Blade for Sada Thioub in the 63rd minute.
Algeria was more dominant in the second half of the clash as they aim to wreck more havoc on the Senegalese.
Cisse made another substitute in a bid to bring back Senegal into the game as he threw in Mbaye Diagne to replace Krepin Diatta in the 73rd minute of the clash.
Diagne had an opportunity to score from a close range with just 10 minutes to go but he headed the ball wide as Algeria coach introduced Mohamed Salim Fares as he withdrew Ramy Bensebaini in the 80th minute of the clash.
The game ended 1-0 in favour of Algeria who tamed the Teranga Lions and denied them the three points.
With the victory, Algeria has booked a place in the knockout round of the tournament.
Up next for Senegal is the clash against Kenya while Algeria will lock horns with Tanzania in their last group games respectively.
