SkyMax Network, Ericsson sign MoU for next-gen 5G network

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by SkyMax Network Limited (“SkyMax”) and Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) to form a cooperation with the goal of developing a next-generation 5G broadband network in Sub-Saharan Africa that includes a digital services delivery platform (SSA). The MoU, the outcome of a two-year partnership between the two parties, is the starting point for more conversations, exchanges, and future partnerships.

In accordance with the MoU, Ericsson will be SkyMax’s dependable partner for managed services as well as network supply, deployment, and optimization. Ericsson will look into joint venture opportunities in the full spectrum of business and technological solutions, such as Radio Access and Mobile Transport network solutions, core network and provisioning systems, Business Support Systems, and Managed Services, which include Cognitive Software network optimizations and Business Support.

SkyMax’s 5G Digital Service Delivery Platform (5G DSDP) is a high-speed data network that provides a variety of services, including network slicing, ultra-low latency, the Internet of Things (IoTs), edge computing, cloud computing, cloud telephony, and Network Exposure Function (NEF).

These features all open up a number of new opportunities. It makes it possible for the growth of the digital economy by creating new opportunities in telemedicine (including remote surgery), e-agriculture, smart ports, remote mining, medical records management, connected cars, industrial IoT, immersive education, the integration and interoperability of communicating objects, smart electrical grids, and other so-called intelligent networks.

By utilizing its 5G network slicing technology and sharing its 5G DSDP with incumbent service providers, SkyMax hopes to accelerate the construction of broadband networks in SSA.

SkyMax intends to establish SkyMax Entrepreneurship Development (SED) in SSA to build its own 5G network for countless new markets and uses. In order for service providers, customers, and organizations to fully benefit from the advantages that private 5G will offer to industries like e-agriculture, smart homes, and smart cities, SkyMax will train and certify them.

These business partners will be able to create their own exclusive 5G companies on the SkyMax 5G DSDP platform in exchange for revenue sharing. The impact of SkyMax Entrepreneurship Development (SED) on economic expansion and employment creation will be significant and long-lasting.

In accordance with the terms of the MoU, SkyMax will also have access to Ericsson’s top-notch technologies and experience with worldwide deployment in network design, network management, and market expansion.
