The coup epidemic was one of the topics covered at the 35th AU Assembly

African leaders are meeting in Addis Ababa. They will attend their first in-person summit since the COVID-19 epidemic began on Saturday and Sunday. Organizers say this year’s theme is “Building Resilience in Nutrition on the African Continent.” But they’ll also have to deal with a lot of paperwork.

South Africa’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa, will discuss the continental plan for combating the COVID-19 outbreak at the assembly’s 35th ordinary session on Saturday. The scourge of coups that has recently rattled Western Africa is also on the table. The Peace and Security Council has suspended Burkina Faso, Mali, Guinea, and Sudan from the institution due to illegitimate regime changes.
