Mamelodi Sundowns have five players nursing injuries after Anele Ngcongca was the latest to join the list.

The Brazilians confirmed yesterday that Oupa Manyisa is in his final stages of rehabilitation, this after undergoing surgery on his Achilles tendon. Indications are that the midfielder could begin light training before the season comes to an end.

The latest long-term injury is Thapelo Morena, who also went under the knife following a gruesome injury to his ankle in Nedbank Cup competition against SuperSport United.

Both Anele Ngcongca and Tebogo Langerman are currently nursing, while Mauricio Affonso is out with an ankle injury.

The Brazilians have three more fixtures left for the month of February, where they are set to host Bloemfontein Celtic in their catch-up Absa Premiership fixture, face off with Vaal University of Technology in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup and thereafter travel to Egypt to lock horns with Al Ahly in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinals.

Sundowns went back to third place on the log today, after Orlando Pirates’ win over Black Leopards and it remains to be seen whether they will reclaim second place when they face off with Celtic on Wednesday.
