App Growth Summit Africa: Welcome Tomorrow and YOUKNOW Unite to Solve SA’s Retention Crisis

As the use of mobile apps continues to increase throughout South Africa, one of the most challenging phenomena in app development is user retention. Research shows that 85% of app users will be lost within 30 days. In response, growth marketing agency Welcome Tomorrow and martech company YOUKNOW Technologies are launching the very first App Growth Summit Africa in Johannesburg on 29 May 2025.

The objective behind this one day summit is to bring together South Africa’s top app marketers, product managers and growth strategists together to discuss one of the most pressing challenges in app development and marketing which is the divide between product and marketing that has led to many poor user experiences and stalled apps.

According to Maxime Calot, CEO of Welcome Tomorrow “Product and marketing teams can collaborate to create frictionless, enjoyable user experiences.” Adding to this, Don Packett, COO of YOUKNOW said “App growth isn’t just a Silicon Valley phenomenon. South African brands can and should, outgrow the global competition. But internal teams need to start pulling in the same direction.”

Topics could cover anything from comprehensive funnel growth strategies, user engagement practices, the collaboration and alignment of cross functional teams. It will present applicable emerging markets case studies with actionable perspectives for driving sustainable app growth.

Major industry players such as OneSignal, Amplitude and MMA South Africa support this event, further solidifying the summit’s commitment to shaping app success in the African region.
