The worst affected areas have been identified due to the flash flooding in several regions of West Africa caused by torrential rains. Many deaths have taken place and severe destruction has been seen due to flooding in Ghana and Ivory Coast. Ghana: Accra Gets The Worst Of The Flooding

Accra in Ghana has turned out to be the worst affected area in the country due to the flood situation there.

Some sections of Accra are still flooded after days of heavy rains, leading to the unavailability of roads, abandonment of vehicles, and use of boats by the rescue teams to help citizens trapped in the floods.

The worst affected area in Accra is Achimota-Agbogbloshie road where the flood disrupted the daily activities and destroyed the properties of the residents.

Tema

Tema, another nearby industrial city, has also suffered flooding whereby the streets are flooded, causing traffic problems and making some communities unreachable.

Côte d’Ivoire: Abidjan Suffers Deadly Floods and Landslides

On the other side of the border, Ivory Coast is not spared either from the effects of the floods, especially in its economic capital.

There have been deadly floods and landslides in Abidjan caused by heavy rains. There have been rescue missions all around the city.

Some of the areas hard hit by the floods include Attécoubé, Yopougon, and the Mossikro community where there have been deaths due to building collapses during the landslides.

Anyama and Soubré

The Anyama suburb in Abidjan has been affected by the landslides, whereas Soubré town located in the cocoa production area of Côte d’Ivoire has experienced unusually heavy rainfall.

Rescue Operations Ongoing

Rescuers in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire are still on the ground undertaking the operations. Authorities have warned people residing in the flood-prone regions to be vigilant, not cross the flooded roads and evacuate when directed to do so by the authorities.

Weather organizations are still monitoring the situation and have cautioned that further rains may worsen the floods in the already affected regions.
