In 2012, after months in the wilderness, when he made a comeback to the game, Jabu ‘Shuffle’ Mahlangu shocked many in the fraternity when he signed with FC Cape Town in South African football’s second tier league.

Mahlangu’s return to the sport brought so much joy to the multitudes of supporters, who still remembered him for his immense talent and silky football skills he dished out for Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana in the prime of his career.

One of the teammates at the Mother City squad of the Daveyton-born star was none other than Mkhanyiseli ‘Ntsimbi’ Siwahla – the professional former Ajax Cape Town star who idolized Mahlangu as a young boy growing up in Nyanga.

Siwahla claims to have facilitated the move by talking to FC Cape Town boss Errol Dicks to sign him for Mahlangu.

Mahlangu had been without a club since he returned from Sweden in 2010, where he was with Osters IF when the Mother City club signed him in February 2012.

He went on with SuperSport United for a second spell in 2014, before hanging up his boots.

“I played a part in transferring Jabu to Cape Town FC. I was really close to FC Cape Town ‘s owner and I approached him and suggested Jabu, and he decided he would come. I’m the one who made the deal over there. I persuaded the club boss to sign on Jabu. We were good friends, and now we are still good friends, so I have no problem with anyone, “Siwahla told the crew from Siya.
