The Bafana Bafana and Bidvest Wits captain recently signed a contract extension in Braamfontein as he committed his future to the Clever Boys last year, but the talk of a move to a different part of Johannesburg won’t seem to go away.

‘Tyson’ has made over 300 senior appearances for club and country over the years and is largely seen as a leadership figure that could help shore up the Buccaneers’ backline, but his new deal means that he will not come cheap to anybody who wants him.

While Wits have remained adamant throughout that Hlatshwayo is going nowhere, Modise wonders whether there’s a buyout clause in his new deal that could leave a door open…

“I’m sure he had ambitions to go overseas, so it’s important for every player to have a buyout clause.”
