Star of How to Ruin Christmas and ER, Busi Lurayi, Passes Away Suddenly

According to information provided by her management, South African actress Busisiwe Lurayi, who was best known for her starring role in the Netflix comedy series How to Ruin Christmas, passed away on Sunday in the home she shared with her partner.

In the South African Broadcasting Corporation 1 sitcom City Ses’la, Lurayi performed the role of Phumzile. The actress passed away unexpectedly, and medical staff confirmed their conclusion that she had died.

In a statement released on Monday, her family confirmed the news that the actress was discovered at her home on Sunday and that emergency officials pronounced her dead at the scene. The circumstances surrounding her passing are still being investigated.

The news of Lurayi’s passing was conveyed to the public by her family, whose statement was republished by Eye Media Artists, the actress’s talent agency. According to what is said in the report, Lurayi “passed away suddenly and was pronounced dead at her residence on Sunday, July 10th by medical personnel. The reason for her death is still unknown as we await the results of the autopsy report.”

Mziwoxolo Qwelane, a successful businessman, was her partner. When he made the accusation that Busi had stolen furnishings from his house in Randburg in 2020, the couple was headed for some trouble.

As soon as the tragic news of Busi Lurayi’s passing was made public, a multitude of the late actress’s admirers and friends took to social media to pay her a series of moving tributes.

Kgopolo, who is involved in the entertainment industry and hosts TV shows, posted on Twitter, “RIP: Busi Lurayi. The prolific Stage & Screen actress has passed on.”

The actor’s portfolio also includes roles in the well-known medical drama on NBC, ER, as well as the ITV series Wild at Heart.
