T20 World Cup: Salim Malik says India deliberately lost to South Africa

Salim Malik, a Pakistani former cricketer and captain, has said that team India intentionally lost to South Africa in the 2022 T20 World Cup to affect Pakistan’s progress.

India lost to South Africa by five wickets in Perth, the capital of Australia. According to Malik, India’s loss ended Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the semifinals. He reportedly told 24 News HD, “India will never want Pakistan to progress. There has always been a rivalry between India and Pakistan.” Subsequently, co-panellist Wahab Riaz said, “That’s your opinion.”

Team India opted to bat first and could manage a paltry 133/9 on the board in 20 overs. South Africa’s David Miller and Aiden Markram played a successful match. They smashed half-centuries to lead South Africa to a five-wicket win over India in the match. They took the innings to 40-3 at the halfway mark.
