Nollywood actor and social media personality Uche Maduagwu revealed that he got arrested by security operatives for coming out as gay. He announced the news on his Instagram account on July 7, 2022.
He reportedly wrote on Instagram, “I was arrested this afternoon by security operatives for coming out as gay and for telling US President Joe Biden to sanction Buhari over Bauchi undemocratic sharia judgment on LGBT.” He condemned the Sharia court ruling that sentenced a man in Bauchi, a city in northeast Nigeria, to death for being gay.

Maduagwu recently revealed his sexuality on social media. On Monday, Maduagwu surprised his fans again when he declared that he is gay. His declaration came barely one year after he publicly denied being gay.
He also asked Biden to sanction his Nigerian counterpart for infringing on the rights of Nigerians. Hours after his revelation, he was arrested on Wednesday afternoon by security personnel.
Maduagwu is quite popular on social media. He has 105K followers on Instagram. His Instagram bio reads, “Africa most talked about actor.” He is best known for his controversial interactions with other social media personalities, including fellow Nollywood actors. He has been in the Nollywood industry since 2012.
He was born in Anambra State in the southeastern part of Nigeria. He attended primary and secondary schools in his hometown. He completed his further studies at Lagos State University.
