Prince Harry Sentebale defamation lawsuit

Legal Trouble for Prince Harry – Defamation Filed by African Charity Sentebale

Prince Harry, one of the prominent members of the royal family in the United Kingdom, is being sued by Sentebale, which he founded, due to a legal matter related to defamation claims.

Sentebale has filed its defamation claim against Prince Harry and another individual by the name of Mark Dyer. The lawsuit was officially filed on March 24. Prince Harry Sentebale defamation lawsuit explained.

“Reputational Damage” Suffered by the Charity

Based on statements made by the spokesperson of the Sentebale charity, the defamation claims are due to adverse media campaigns that have caused disruption to its operations.

The charity maintains that the media campaigns have damaged its reputation as well as hindered its ability to serve vulnerable youths of southern Africa.

Accordingly, Sentebale has said that it wants “intervention, protection and restitution” from the court for this situation.

Denial by Prince Harry

The spokesperson for Prince Harry and Mark Dyer has categorically denied these accusations, calling them “offensive and damaging.”

The spokesperson also hinted that the charity should concentrate more on its objectives rather than wasting its time in court battles.

Background of the Legal Battle

The current lawsuit is the culmination of an ongoing controversy inside the organization that started due to differences between the leaders and other management members of Sentebale.

In March 2025, Prince Harry, along with Prince Seeiso and some trustees, resigned from the charitable organization. This move came in the wake of friction between the charity’s chairman, Sophie Chandauka, and other members.

The Public Dispute And Investigation

The two sides were embroiled in a public dispute over leadership and conduct very quickly after the dispute began. While both organisations were exchanging public criticisms of one another, the Charity Commission began its own investigation into the impact of the dispute on the charity.

In August 2025, the Charity Commission released its findings from the investigation and stated that none of the individual parties involved took the lead in the dispute and that the manner in which the dispute was publicly handled was poor.

According to Chief Executive David Holdsworth, the dispute threatened to overshadow Sentebale’s successes and therefore limit Sentebale’s ability to provide services to its beneficiaries.
