Patoranking, a Nigerian singer-songwriter, is set to entertain fans at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The singer will perform on the stage on November 28.
According to information on FIFA’s website, Patoranking is lined up to perform at the Mundial along with DJ Aseel, Gims, Miami Band, Julian Marley and The Uprising, Myrath, Hassan Shakosh and clean bandit.
Patoranking, whose real name is Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, was born in Ijegun-Egba Satellite Town. Patoranking hails from Onicha, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. He is one of the most famous singers in Nigeria.
The singer started his music career doing underground collaborations with artists like XProject, Konga, Slam and Reggie Rockstone. His music video “Girlie O” gave him the limelight in 2014. Patoranking released a song titled “Abule” in 2020. He said that he got the inspiration for the song on a football pitch while playing football.
Nigerian stars at the 2022 World Cup
Despite the non-qualification of the Super Eagles for the first Mundial in the Middle East, multiple award-winning singer Davido (David Adeleke) was featured on the official World Cup soundtrack alongside American star Trinidad Cardona and Qatari star Aisha.
FIFA is expected to announce more names of artists in the coming days.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is the quadrennial international men’s football championship contested by the senior national teams of the member associations of FIFA. The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to be held in Qatar from 20 November to 18 December 2022. Around 1.2 million people are expected to attend the event in Qatar. A total of 32 teams, including the defending champions France, are participating in the tournament.
