The Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), the country’s premier Film Trade Association Body, has announced good news for cinema lovers on the occasion of the International Cinema Day.
Opeyemi Ajayi, the chairman of the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), said in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos that cinema lovers would enjoy discounted tickets on 2 September in commemoration of the International Cinema Day.
Nigerians can watch any film for ₦1k
Opeyemi Ajayi announced a discount on movie tickets to bring back old customers and encourage Nigerians to go to the theater. Opeyemi Ajayi said, “Nigeria’s cinemas join cinemas in the United Kingdom and United States of America to announce The National Cinema Day, which takes place on Saturday, September 2, 2023.”
CEAN’s national chairman reportedly said that people can watch movies in cinema halls with discounted tickets of ₦1,000 to kick-off the first National Cinema Day celebration.
Discount on movie tickets will be available at more than 50 cinema locations with more than 100 screens across Nigeria. On Saturday, cinema lovers can watch any movie of their choice at a discounted ticket price of ₦1,000.
The CEAN chairman reportedly said, “We want to say thank you to movie-goers and promote the cinema-going culture as well as to remind audiences about the magic of cinema.”
National Cinema Day 2023
National Cinema Day 2023 celebrates movie lovers across the country, inviting audiences to watch movies on Saturday. The one-day moviegoing event aims to bring together audiences of all ages. Tickets for any film will be made available at the local theater’s box office. Audiences can go to their nearby cinema halls to watch their favorite movie.

The National Association of Theater Owners in the United States encouraged audiences to watch movies on Sunday, August 27, to celebrate the National Cinema Day. The tickets for any movie were available at $4 — a 33 per cent increase from last year.

According to reports, more than 30,000 screens and 3,000 locations across the United States took part in the event to celebrate the National Cinema Day. People in the US gave preference to “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer,” “Jurassic Park,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Lady Bird”.
